Knowledge Pharm
Knowledge Pharm is a series of meetings for pharmacy and medicine students first launched in 2007 and organized in cooperation with student organizations (students’ councils, Young Pharmacy Group). The first stage of this year’s edition, directed specifically to pharmacy students, ended in May 2009, and the next one – for those studying medicine – was launched in October.
Central Theme
The Knowledge Pharm aims to:
- enable the students to confront the theoretical knowledge gained at university with pharmaceutical industry practice;
- provide the information necessary for understanding the industry specificity yet missing from university curricula.
Program
The program of Knowledge Pharm conferences consists of two parts. The first one includes lectures prepared specifically with students in mind and given by Polpharma specialists. The discussed issues have been carefully selected to best fit the students’ needs.
Lecture topics:
- “Important Things You Should Know about Generics”
- “Manufacturing Practices”,
- “The Pharmaceutical Industry and Technology Developments in Generic Products”, and
- student placements and traineeships at Polpharma, terms of employment, required qualifications and skills (see more) – covered by an HR presentation.
The second part of a meeting is a trip to the company facility, where students can visit the Polpharma manufacturing section and laboratories.
Knowledge Pharm for pharmacy students – the figures:
- Polpharma received ca. 850 student visitors from 10 medical universities;
- More than 90% of participants perceived Polpharma as a strong and progressive company, one that develops rapidly, manufactures high-quality drugs and employs state-of-the-art technologies;
- Evaluation of lectures:
- 78% of attendants graded the content of lectures at 5 or 6 (top marks);
- 76% considered the information provided during presentations as an asset complementing their university
knowledge, one that may aid them in their future careers.
