Environmental Mass Balance
Polpharma has developed a production site mass balance system as a further step to sustainable operations. Mass balance analysis helps to control all streams of materials and goods within industrial operations, identify weak points in manufacturing processes and reduce waste in materials handling.
In 2010 Polpharma produced about almost 5 000 tones of finished products and APIs (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients). 2,990,000 tones of natural resources and raw materials were used for conversion processes, including 2 980 000 tones of water. The conversion factors put Polpharma among the most efficient fine chemicals and pharmaceutical producers in terms of resource management. However, the goal of reducing environmental impact by improving processes and optimizing mass balance is our strategic business target.
