In the years 1998–2001, the company was the sponsor of the women’s basketball team, Polpharma VBW Clima from Gdynia, which won the laurels of the Polish championship several times.

Since 2000, Polpharma has been a titular sponsor of the men’s basketball team from Starogard Gdański. Since 2004, it has been competing in the premier league against the best Polish clubs. In the 2009-2010 season, the team won the bronze medal of Polish championships, which is so far the greatest success of Starogard basketball.

By sponsoring the basketball team, the company is also boosting integration of the local community. The joint support for the team unites Polpharma employees, their families and town inhabitants.

For the support of sports, Polpharma received the Golden Basket award and the title of the Sponsor of the Year 2010 awarded by the Polish Basketball Association.

Polpharma also uses sports for building positive models for the youth. At meetings with basketball players organised in schools, it promotes educational values of sports, emphasises the need to follow fair play rules, shows sports as an interesting form of spending free time – alternative to violence or passive leisure in front of the television. This is one of the aims of the Polpharma Streetball Jam by DML – streetball tournaments which combine two elements close to the young hearts: sports and music, basketball and hip-hop. The company also funded four basketball hoops in Starogard residential districts.

The good example of how to spend time actively is set by the company employees themselves. The Polpharma Physical Culture and Sports Association was appointed upon their initiative. Under the Association, employees organise activities such as kayaking trips, running, table tennis, badminton, football or basketball tournaments. They also prepare charitable events the income from which is to be used in the future for the purposes of disabled children. There is also a sailing club in Polpharma, which has been active for 10 years.
