The Foundation for Development of Polish Pharmacy and Medicine became the laureate of the 6th edition of the Pomeranian Eagle 2007 poll.
The title of the Pomeranian Eagle is awarded to people, companies and organisations “worthy of general respect, with outstanding achievements in politics, business, culture, science, social activity or sports”. Decisions on granting the awards are made by the readers of the Pomeranian weekly magazine “Tygodnik Wieczór” in a poll. The competition is held under the patronage of the Pomeranian Voivod, Roman Zaborowski, and the Pomeranian Voivodship Marshall, Jan Kozłowski.
The Foundation joined the group of laureates including, among others, President Lech Wałęsa, ATLAS Charity Foundation, Ryszard Krauze Foundation, or Professor Jacek Jassem – Manager of the Oncology Clinic of the Medical University of Gdansk.
The Pomeranian Eagle 2007 statuettes were awarded on 8 April, during a ceremonial gala held at the King Arthur's Court (Dwór Artusa) in Gdansk. The laudatory speech in honour of the Foundation was given by Professor Janusz Rachoń, rector of the Gdansk University of Technology, also a laureate of the “Tygodnik Wieczór” poll. In his speech, Professor Rachoń emphasised the financial assistance provided by the Foundation and the founder, i.e. Polpharma, for the Polish science.
