Challenges for the pharmaceutical market in the 21st century – conference of ISPE Poland at Polpharma

The international conference of ISPE Poland, titled „Innovations in the Pharmaceutical Industry” was held at the Polpharma SA Pharmaceutical Works on April 24-25, 2007.

The conference was organized by the ISPE Poland Association, the Polish Affiliate of the global organization International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering.  The event was co-organized by Polpharma.

This was the first in Poland conference of that type, attended by so numerous recognized experts, both Polish and foreign, in the field of quality assurance and drug production. The conference’s purpose was to discuss the opportunities and threats of the pharmaceutical market in 21^st century, and modern solutions which contribute to progress in this sector.

 “Pharmaceutical innovations depend not only on technical progress. They are also tied to meeting the expectations of patients and pharmaceutical regulatory bodies. That is why an open debate between the representatives of inspection bodies and of the industry opens the best opportunities for the understanding of mutual expectations, and for rapid development,” claims Andrzej Szarmański, Quality Director at Polpharma SA and also the Chairman of ISPE Poland.

Polpharma, as the leader of the Polish pharmaceutical market, supports ISPE activities for the development of modern technologies and for the increase of safety and effectiveness of pharmaceutical products. The conference in Starogard was attended by about 120 participants from Poland and abroad. The special guest was Mr. Gerald Heddell, Director of the Inspection & Standards Division at British Medicine and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency, who is also one of the largest worldwide authorities on the quality of pharmaceuticals. Polish pharmaceutical inspection was represented by Mr. Daniel Gralak, Director of GMP Inspection Department at Main Pharmaceutical Inspectorate. Many renowned experts from Great Britain and Italy were among the speakers, alongside the Polish specialists. 

ISPE is a global, non-profit association of pharmaceutical industry professionals. It has over 23 thousand members from 81 countries.

The ISPE Poland Association is the Polish Affiliate of the global ISPE organization. It is an active platform, used by specialists, managers and students of pharmacy and similar areas to exchange information and experiences. Its goal is progress in the pharmaceutical sector. The Association cooperates with pharmaceutical bodies and supports the development of modern technologies.
